Private Instruction

Born and raised in Humboldt county, Erin Fernandez began her dance training at the age of four. Erin has been trained in various dance styles ranging from ballet, jazz and tap, to modern and Latin dance. She has enjoyed many seasons performing as a principal dancer with North Coast Dance's ballet company, and directing the Children's Division.
Erin has founded, directed, and performed with her own jazz dance company, FUSION; and instructed two semesters of jazz dance at HSU in 2005.
In 2006, Erin danced and performed abroad with the Estada International de Danza in Banyoles, Spain, and plans to return next summer. She is currently teaching ballet at HSU, and performing in concert for Jandy Bergmann and Sharon Butcher. Erin plans to continue hosting Salsa Dance events in Arcata, and has recently joined and performed with Desiree Meinardi's Samba Na Chuva dance troupe. She has a degree in Elementary Education, and is thrilled to be teaching young children back in Arcata where she took her first ballet lesson.
Erin encourages dance enrichment and education by providing a lending library of dance books, time for creative expression, and performance opportunities in the community.

We live in a society in which loneliness has become one of the most painful human wounds. The growing competition and rivalry which pervade our lives from birth have created in us an acute awareness of our isolation. This awareness has in turn left many with a heightened anxiety and an intense search for the experience of unity and community. It has also led people to ask anew how love, friendship, brotherhood and sisterhood can free them from isolation and offer them a sense of intimacy and belonging.
